Philippe Starck armchairs model Dr Sonderbar edition XO 1983 set of 2
This pair of armchairs is the Docteur Sonderbar model imagined by the famous French designer and architect Philippe Starck, then published by XO. It is composed of a tripod structure in black lacquered tubular steel on which a perforated metal seat is retained.
It is an iconic model of 80s design, a Must To Have in your interior. It will be placed in your interior as a collector's item, it will arouse the astonishment of decoration enthusiasts.
It takes its name from a fictional character, "Doctor Sonderbar", from the novel Ubik (science fiction) written by Philip K. Dick.
These armchairs respond perfectly to Starck's analysis according to which "the fourth leg is a redundancy. The tripod creates tension. A seat with three legs has a different spirit. It requires more attention, greater participation, and more intellectual and sensual demands on the part of the user. This is the beginning of a relationship with the person who is going to sit. Swinging on a tripod is more dangerous, but more fun."
